Atlanta Falcons safety Thomas DeCoudwill be visiting with children and their families who are a part of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. DeCoud purchased (40) season tickets this season for this group as part of the Falcons Extra Yard Partnership program. DeCoud will be signing autographs, taking pictures and eating snacks with the group.
This exclusive event will kick off Holy Innocents’ Walk to Cure Team’s fundraising efforts for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s (JDRF) Walk to Cure Diabetes. The Walk to Cure Diabetes is Oct. 16 at Centennial Olympic Park and Oct. 17 at Johns Creek Technology Park. For more information on the Walk to Cure Diabetes visitwww.jdrfgeorgia.org
The Extra Yard Partnership Program provides an opportunity for Atlanta Falcons players to connect directly with military groups, youth groups and non-profit/civic organizations throughout the state of Georgia that otherwise would not have the opportunity to attend a Falcons game.
Through the Extra Yard Partnership Program, a player or player’s foundation purchases season tickets and T-shirts for a group. Each player creates a unique name to identify their visiting groups. These groups can be seen during every 2010 home sporting their special shirts.
The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation was founded in 1970 by parents of children with type 1diabetes, a chronic disease with life altering complications. This distressing fact has fueled millions to get behind JDRF and its commitment to find a cure. Today, JDRF’s leadership is associated with the most major scientific breakthroughs in type 1 diabetes. JDRF has awarded more than $1.3 billion in grants and fellowships to laboratories, universities and medical centers in 22 countries. Locally, JDRF has supported research grants at Emory University, Georgia Tech, University of Georgia and Medical College of Georgia.
